Teach Us To Pray ~ Study Series

Luke 11:1 says, "And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."

Recorded in this chapter is a beautiful prayer, prayed by countless millions upon millions of people throughout the ages, in every kind of situation. I think it is interesting to note that this is the only place recorded in scripture where the Disciples specifically asked Jesus "teach us." What was it they saw, heard and felt that caused them to ask Jesus, "teach us to pray?" Jesus taught his disciples this prayer as a pattern to use when praying. Indeed, when we understand the pattern, we understand it is not only a pattern for praying, it is a pattern for our Christian life.
